Paul Gunning lives in Kinvara Co. Galway. Although having a Traditional Irish music background, he plays a variety of genres, including Tango, European Gypsy, Cajun and Tex Mex, switching between 2 row, 3 row, and continental-style accordion systems. Emerging from the vibrant local music scene in Galway in the 1990’s, he was a founding member of The Máimín Cajun Band who were frequent performers at Conamara Sea Week.

Guitarist and singer Jimmy Fitz currently leads the rockabilly band, The Screamin’ Bluecats, and is a session guitarist with many Galway-based jazz groups, including Black Magic Orchestra. He has 4 solo albums including “Jimmy Fitz” with acclaimed producer Jon Astley.

Nuala Ní Chanainn plays Classical, Trad, Latin and Jazz. She studied at the Cork School of Music and works as a freelance player and violin teacher. Among her recordings is the album “Béal na Trá”, recorded with her father Tomás Ó Canainn. She currently plays with The Luminosa String Orchestra.

This event coincides with the launch of Paul Gunning’s new CD “The Accordion Player” which also features Jimmy Fitz and Nuala Ní Chanainn. This mini-album of original compositions is drawn from the diversity of accordion styles from South America, Mexico and Ireland.
