Áine McHugh is a concertina player from the foot of Cnoc Meadha in North County Galway. She credits Bernie Geraghty and Noel Hill as her mentors on the instrument. She recently played at the Galway International Arts Festival with her sister Catherine and at Áras an Uachtaráin for Culture Night 2024.
Liz Coleman is a fiddle player from Clondalkin in Dublin and her early musical training included classical violin lessons with Una Lawlor allied with traditional fiddle lessons from Terry Crehan and Michelle O’Brien. As well as playing in various traditional groups, Liz has also held the position of principal fiddle player in the Irish Memory Orchestra.
Tommy Carew is a past pupil of the furniture college and is no stranger to Letterfrack and the Sea Week Festival. He is a self-taught guitar player and singer from Doon, Co. Limerick. Tommy’s attention was caught by the sounds of guitar accompaniment in traditional Irish music and was inspired by the playing of Donagh Hennessy when he first came to Galway.
Áine, Liz and Tommy all live in Galway City and are looking forward to the trip through the Inagh Valley to The Frack! Expect to hear a solid store of jigs and reels with a scattering of contemporary and traditional folk songs. Come out for a tune and bring the instruments!
